John Whitton Bridge

This beautiful lattice bridge over Parramatta River was designed by engineer John Whitton and opened in 1886. It was prefabricated in England, shipped across the world in sections, and assembled right here. Walking across it today, you’re treated to sweeping views of the river’s calm waters, the Meadowbank wharf, surrounding mangroves, and the growing Meadowbank skyline—a perfect blend of heritage and modern Sydney.
