Punjab State Institute of Public Administration

An institutional complex constructed to facilitate educational and training facilities for Indian Administrative services (IAS) officers of Punjab cadre. Located at sector 26, Chandigarh on a 12.02 acres site with a backdrop of Chandigarh Golf Club and Shivalik Hills (Himalayan Foothills). Project comprised of 1. Academic complex building, 2. Library building, 3. Convention Centre, 4. Auditorium (500 seating capacity), 5. Amphitheater, 6. Sports complex, 7. Electric substation, 8. Hostels and 9. Suits. With a built-up area of 2,86,185 square feet or 26587.45 square meters and all buildings fully airconditioned, project cost was estimated to be Rs 25 crores in the year 1995. Project, being located in the city of Chandigarh, has been designed as a tribute to Le Corbusier. The geometry of the design has been derived from the capital complex, while the spatial organization and planning along the axis are the result of the nine square mandala.
